Back Door

Picture this:

Coming home near dusk in the midst of a torrential downpour with the brightest lightining and loudest thunder you've ever seen. Now add in an attempt to feed 8 very hungry animals. This means I have to round up 4 wet and soggy horses and go to the dog pen to feed the precious canines. With that said, I put my boots on grabbed an umbrella and scooped up all the feed to pass out to our little animal family and tried to do it as fast as I could. I successfully completed that task without getting too wet or even slipping in the mud.

Fast forward to 4:15 this morning when I woke up.

I arose from my deep slumber and opened the bedroom door to get a glass of water and I noticed that our back door was wide OPEN. I mean not just cracked, but open as far as it could go. I immediately looked over to the living room to see if the TV and stereo were there. Check. I then went back to our bedroom to call the hubs (he's out of town) and grab the shot gun. That's right. I grabbed the gun, had Travis on the phone, and was casing the house for intruders. I knew the chances of having a human in our house were very slim since we live in the middle of nowhere and you have to look to find our place. I was more concerned about wild animals wanting to find a nice warm and dry place to spend the night. Travis was laughing at me while I was casing the house, but I wanted to feel safe while I got ready and know that there weren't any new visitors in our house.

After casing the house and even standing on the back porch, the house was safe. From what I could tell we did not have any visitors last night.

I usually don't get 'scared' when I'm home alone, but boy howdy was my heart racing when I saw that back door wide open!

Thankfully the hubs will return home tomorrow, but first I get to go visit him in Waco and see some friends and get my hair done.

Belated Easter Post

I realize this is almost a month late, but better late than never. Right?

Travis and I spent Easter weekend with my parents alongside my brother, Trent,  and his awesome wife, Kourtny. My mom and dad hid Easter eggs and we had an adult Easter egg hunt!

Can I tell you just how much fun it was? Seriously. Mom and Dad hid the eggs in the FRONT yard. This means that every person that drove by their corner lot house saw 4 adult aged people scavenging the yard for eggs. We had a ball. We each had 20 eggs to find, plus there were bonus eggs that we could also pick up. The girls found their eggs before the boys, too! Not only did the eggs contain teeth rotting candy, but they had money, too! Come to find out the bonus eggs had big money in them! It’s ok that we pretend we are kids for an afternoon, right?

We had a great weekend with my family and celebration of our wonderful savior. He is Risen!

30 Day Shred

Are you obsessed with The Biggest Loser like I am? I cannot take my eyes off the TV on Tuesday nights from 7-9. Seriously. I think I have a problem. I have even been known to shed a tear or two during the episodes. Travis is even watching it with me.

I say all of that, to introduce you to Jillian's 30 Day Shred. Jillian is the lean mean trainer on BL. She is intense, knows how to push your limits, has no fear, and sometimes thinks she is a counselor. This workout video is no exceeption.

I have been following the dvd for about a week now and I am hooked. It has 3 levels and you work your way up to the level 3 workouts. Each workout incorportes strenth, cardio, and abs. This girl knows how to make your leg muscles hurt. Can I get an amen, That Pink Girl?

If you are looking for a workout to do at home,I highly recommend Jillian's 30 Day Shred. It's a quick 20 minute workout that has you sweating and hurting by the time the cooldown rolls around.

Pink? Really?

This is what happens when the bakery is busy taking orders and has
Easter on their brain. We ordered a cake for Travis' birthday and this
is what we got.

Thankfully he was a great sport about and it still tasted great, just
lots of pink and rabbits.

The funny thing is that the bakery did not apologize or discount their
price for the mix up. Oh well, we always use them and this is their
first mistake.

Doesn't this look like a cake you would order for a 27 year old who
loves all things western/country???

Our newest addition

On Wednesday we brought home a new horse. Meet Snickers. He was given
to us by one of Travis' roping buddies.

He is a gentle horse and will be good for trail rides. I would like to
re name him though. He doesn't look like a Snickers to me nor do I
care for that name much.

Welcome Snickers to the Riley family!
