Ice ice baby

This is a picture of the end of our driveway and the FM road in front
of our house.
It is incredibly icey up here today and I'll be driving to work in
this mess in a little bit.

One Hundred Pushups

Today at work we began a strength challenge to kick-off the new year. Amy found this great One Hundred Pushups challenge for several people in our department and building.

It is a 6 week program that says you will be able to do 100 consecutive pushups if you follow their simple training program. It only requires 10 minutes of your time 3 days per week!

We had our initial challenge today and the real training will begin tomorrow! I have even managed to get Travis to partake in this challenge with me.

I challenge you to 100 pushups in 6 weeks. Are you ready?

The above picture is a depiction of me and how I have looked and felt since Tuesday. I called in sick to work on Wednesday and spent the entire day in bed with the exception of getting out to make Travis lunch and dinner and use the facilities. Thursday was my day off (praise the Lord) so I spent another day at home resting in the den watching entirely too much boring TV.

My runny nose seems to have stopped running, but unfortunately that drainage has now led to my chest and I have a deep man cough…cute, huh?

I apologize to my co-workers that are listening to me cough up my lungs today. I know it’s gross, but I can’t help it.

Me and some of my Red Friday early lunchers are headed to the Gay-borhood to eat at Hunky’s for lunch! Hunky’s is a burger joint in uptown. I can’t wait to try it out! Amy is always full of fun places to eat around our office. Thanks Amy.

Thankfully this weekend will allow me to continue to rest and recover from this nasty congestion and get well for the big festivities of next weekend: The wedding of James Newman and Tara Daniel!!! I cannot wait for a fun weekend in Rusk,Texas celebrating the nuptials of these 2 amazing people that mean so much to us.

I hope everybody has a great weekend!

And to my great friend, Debra Guilfrod, welcome back to Texas! We are glad to have you back. I cannot wait to come and visit.

One Month

Until we will be here in Winter Park Coloardo skiing to our hearts content and getting some good quality hang out time with Alli Aman!

We are actually using this trip to celebrate our 1 year anniversary ( a little early I know) BUT we wanted to avoid the crazy spring break crowds and go early.

We will drive our way there a with a pit stop over night at the home of Jon and Meg Curth in Amarillo and then we will head out to Denver where we will meet Alli at her house and then we will finish the drive on up to the house in Winter Park!

I absolutely cannot wait to put on my warm and comfy ski clothes and enjoy my little green slopes. That’s right, I’ve started skiing when I was 5 and I still enjoy my little greens and the occasional blue, whilst my sweet husband enjoys the thrills of sliding down rails and jumping across moguls! After all, he did ride bulls in college…

Hurry up February!

D List Celebrity Sighting

Yesterday I went to Twisted Root with some co-workers for lunch and we had a celebrity sighting. When I say celebrity sighting I mean, slight… not really a celebrity, but was on a little reality TV show called The Bachelorette, you might have heard of it?!

Remember The Bachelorette with DeAnna last year? Well, one of the contenders for DeAnna’s heart, Jeremy, (the lawyer from Dallas) happened to also be dining at Twisted Root yesterday! He was on a lunch date with a little blonde headed gal. He still looks good, but a little to Dallas ‘uptownish’ for me.

I recently heard a radio personality saying she has seen him out in public and that he thinks he is pretty cool now for having been on The Bachelorette. Apparently he introduces himself as “I’m Jeremy, from The Bachelorette…”. He has taken his low celebrity status to his big ole’ head.

I attempted to take a picture from our table, but I didn’t want to be ‘that girl’ nor did I want him to know what I was doing.

That made for a fun lunch with FABULOUS food! If you haven’t been to Twisted Root…go NOW! They have great burgers, fries (curly, sweet potato, etc.) and apparently their milkshakes are good and will bring all the boys to the yard, but I have yet to try one.

A Year in review

This past year was definitely a great year for us, but along the road there were some speed bumps that got in the way, yet everything the Lord brought our way just helped us to grow closer together.

Here are some highlights of 2008:

1. THE Wedding. I had the privilege of marrying the love of my life and best friend on 03/15/08

2. We spent an amazing week in St. Lucia for our Honeymoon

3. Celebrated my Grandaddy's 91st birthday at the Lake House in East Texas

4. A week in Gulf Shores, AL at the beach with my parents and Trent and Kourtny.

5. The housing market got the best of Travis, but God quickly opened new doors and we accepted the next challenge life brought us

6. Travis is traveling a lot with his new job, but being away just made our relationship grow stronger each and every day
7. A wonderful family friend gave us a 34 foot 5th wheel trailer that will really aid Travis as he is now on the road a lot.

8. Grandaddy had a fall at his house and was God called him to go home to be re-united with Gram after a wonderful 91 years of life.

9. My best friend from college, Erin Freeman, got engaged to her law school sweet heart, Stephen while on vacation in Napa. She was my maid of honor and I'll be her matron!

10. We had our first Thanksgiving at OUR house while I battled strep throat. Travis cooked his first turkey...successfully

11. Our first Christmas as newlyweds was at the Huey's in Fort Worth. My parents are going through a kitchen remodel, but mom still had some excellent meals for us.

12. Another good friend from Baylor and work, Lindsay DeArmon, got engaged to her man on Christmas Eve

13. And another close gal pal, Miss. Katie Hagemeier, got engaged to her long distance beau, Chad Justice

14. And last but not least, my other best gal pal, Abigail Cooper, ALSO got engaged to her boyfriend on New Years Eve in Waco

After all we have been through it has been an incredible year. God has blessed us beyond our wildest dreams with great friends, family, jobs, home, safety, and our health. I cannot wait to see what 2009 has in store for us.

On a cold night...

Venison chili just hits the spot!
