We Gather Together

Thanksgiving 2013 was spent in Waco.

We loaded up the truck and headed north on 281 once I got home from working the night shift. Travis was wonderful and had the truck packed, seat warmers on, and pillows and blankets all ready for my arrival.

I took a short nap in the car and when we arrived at my parents house I was ready to be with my family.

Trent was out of town for work. 36 miles off the coast of Alabama, I think.

We certainly missed having him there, but we were able to see him the next weekend!

Jackson made a turkey of all the things he's thankful for:
His mom and dad, Kinley, Katy the dog, cowboy boots, and Bush's chicken. Love that kid!

TRye showing Jax how to play Washers. It's never too early to groom him to be a KOT.

We had a wonderful weekend surrounded by family. We are reminded each year how incredibly blessed we are to have such great family, our health, jobs, a merciful and sovereign God, and a love for each other that continues to grow deeper each and every day.

We hope each of you had a wonderful and happy Thanksgiving!

Cheeseburger in Paradise

Imagine the best burger you've ever had.

Now forget about it and come try a delicious, savory, hearty, greasy, cheesey, Texas sized burger at Alamo Springs Cafe. It's off the beaten path outside Comfort, yet minutes from Luckenbach.

Our friends invited us to join them one Sunday night. We're normally homebodies on the Sunday nights we don't have small group...so glad we said yes!!

They had a burger voted 3rd best in Texas by Texas Monthly.

Travis and Blake just had to try the infamous 'Cover Burger':
JalapeƱo Cheddar bun with a 1/2lb patty, grilled onions, cheddar cheese, avocado, and green chilis.

There it is in all it's glory

Homemade onion rings. Delicious!!

Homemade French fries! Yum!

Blake going in for the first bite...

Travis' turn to conquer the burger.

All done!

The meal wouldn't be complete without trying their homemade peach crisp.

This place is delicious and well worth the road trip to find it. We will definitely be back for more!!

Jump Around

Wow, I've really been slacking with the blogging lately.

Trying to title each post with an appropriate song lyric can be hard....and I get stuck.

That leads me to today's post:

Jump Around

Going to get caught up on what we've been doing since Labor Day.

After fulfilling our commitment to volunteer at the Boerne rodeo we packed up and headed to Horseshoe Bay where the rest of the Riley family was.

Next up, going to Big Lou's with our small group to eat this 42 inch pizza!

1 slice fills you up and is almost 2 feet long! So blessed to be surrounded by such a great group of friends.

We headed up to Waco for a football game, and to celebrate one of my BFF's birthday.

I attempted to get crafty and made this cake for Marci. I was a little short on Kit-Kats, but just made that the back of the cake.

We celebrated Marci's birthday by going to the fair and having a ball with Karlie and Kinsey as they played lots of games and road several rides. So fun!

What's a trip to Waco without a stop at Bush's?

This handsome man took me to Baylor Homecoming.

Pretty sure I had the best looking date. I tried to get him to buy me a mum, but no such luck. :-)

Uncle TRye FINALLY got to meet Kinley. He instantly fell in love and I'm pretty sure the feeling was mutual.

Can you believe she is 13 weeks?!?!

The best mom and dad a girl could ask for.

Jackson joined us at the parade and we spent a lot of time running around and having fun!

Finally found my brick. It's getting hard to read. You can kind of see Trent's on the left.

And now I'm all caught up! That's a lot of jumping around...from Labor Day to mid October!

Hope everybody is having a great Fall and cheering on Baylor as they are undefeated!

Let's Go Surfin' Now

While trying to think of a song lyric for this blog title, I realized we don't have a single Beach Boy's song in our music library!?!?

I grew up listening and knowing all the words to their songs. I've been to several of their concerts, and I'm a little disappointed that I've never downloaded any of their tunes.

I digress.

We were invited to join Travis' parents at the coast (Surfside) for a weekend. We jumped at the invite to enjoy a weekend of sun, sand, seafood, and relaxation.

We arrived late Friday night and this was the view from our room.

Morning view.

Didn't snag a single pic of our yummy seafood dinner, but trust me when I saw it was divine. In fact, I think Travis is still dreaming of his blackened red fish meal. It was that good!

On our drive home, the directions had us go through Wharton, Texas. It's the home of Don Elliott Autoworld. He happens to be my dads BFF and Travis had never seen Wharton or his dealership.
