A cold winter day

I think today marks the 3rd time this winter that it has snowed in
Aubrey. It's pretty unusual for it to be this cold and snow much, but
I'm not complaining. I love having an excuse to sit by the fire, drink
hot chocolate, and cuddle on the couch with hubs.

Life is good!

Alamo City Christmas

Travis and I are headed down to San Antonio to spend Christmas with his family. We will be there throughout the weekend. So, if any of my SA friends are in town, we’d love to come and say hello.

Merry Christmas and safe travels to everybody driving to spend time with family and friends!

I survived the Rock

Warning: lots of pictures below.

This weekend we ran the race. We all finished and are all here to talk about it now, but for a while I wasn't sure if I was going to make it. I was doing great until about mile 6 when I started cramping in both calves and could barely run. I could walk fine, but was not able to run at all. This means, I had to walk the last half of the race. not fun. at. all. I was ready to call it quits, but knew I couldn't if my 60 year old dad could run the entire 26.2 miles!

Here are some pictures from the weekend. They are in no particular order, as blogger would not let me move any pictures.

Post race lunch at Campisis

Congratulating Daddy on a job WELL done

Daddy crossing that finish line. The clock says 5:34, but it was really 5:20 due to the long time it took us to cross the starting line

Dad coming down the home stretch...almost there!
Team Jackie: this is a 23 year old former A&M student who was hit by a drunk driver and now suffering from permanent brain damage. A team formed in her honor and pushed her through the race!

INSPIRING: disabled athletes who won't let anything stop them!!!

Trent getting close to the finish line

Resting up the night before the race!

Run The Rock

It’s here. It’s here!!!

The annual Huey family extravaganza is here! And by that I mean our annual run at the Dallas White Rock Marathon. This year is a little different because Daddy will be running the FULL 26.2 honkin’ miles, Dr. Raley will NOT be running due to a hurt knee,  Trent and I will do the half, and the rest of the clan (mom, Travis, Kourt and Trish Raley) will be supporting us from the sidelines.  The best part of the race is the post race lunch at Campisis. That place is fabulous. It is yummy in your tummy Italian food.

Wish us luck as we run another race and add another page to our annual Huey tradition!

'I've been everywhere man'

“I've been everywhere, man

I've been everywhere, man

I've crossed the deserts bare, man, breathed the mountain air, man

Travel I've had my share, man

I've been everywhere

I've been to:

Waco, Hico, Hondo, Navasota, Winnsboro, Jacksboro, Hillsboro, Santa Rosa,

Austin, Houston, Galveston, Texarkana, Frisco, Buffalo, Conroe, Corsicana,

Goliad, Groesbeck, Glen Rose, Red Oak, Post Oak, Live Oak, Lone Oak, no joke”

Remember that song? It was a Johnny Cash original, but somebody made all about Texas. Hubs can sing every line of that song without skipping a beat. I don’t know if I should be proud or worried…ha!

I feel like Travis and I have toured Texas and that’s because we have been! We have been on the road every weekend since October. We went to Waco for Baylor Homecoming, went to Llano 4 different weekends to hunt with friends and family, Fort Worth for Thanksgiving with the Hueys, and then we’ll hit the road again to Rusk/Maydelle (East Texas) for a weekend with friends, and then off to San Antonio for Christmas with the Rileys! Sorry for the lack of posting, but  we’ve been out of town so much, that when we are home I just want to crash and try and get caught up!

We will be in town this weekend and then next weekend is the big RACE! Dad will compete in his first FULL marathon and the lazy children(Trent and I) will run a measly 13.1 miles and do the half marathon. I’m hoping I can complete the race without too much pain. Hubs and I were feeding the horses yesterday and Miss. Sloan accidentally placed her 1,000 pound self on top of my right foot for a good 15 seconds. I know have some purple toes, but I’m going to push through and finish that race…mainly because I’ll be too embarrassed if my dad runs 26.2 miles and I can’t run 13.1…ha!

I hope everybody is now in the Christmas spirit with the little bit of snow we all seemed to get within the past few days! 3 weeks from today and it’s CHRISTMAS!!!
