How To Save A Life

4.0.

That's my GPA after completing my first quarter of nursing school.

I was accepted into the program last fall and started going full-time in January. I will have my RN in two years.

This has been a long time coming, and I feel so blessed and privileged to have the opportunity to go to school again and follow my dreams.

While I've only been in school for 3 months, I have loved every. Single. Second. I absolutely LOVE what I'm learning and interacting with patients.

I know I'm fulfilling God's plan for me and it feels so so good to be in this place.

I must say that I couldn't do ANY of this if it weren't for Travis' support. He's my sugar daddy for the next two years, but he is also so proud of me it nearly makes my heart burst with happiness. He's a wonderful supporter and encourager. I'm truly thankful for him as I know school will become more challenging.
First day of school

First day of clinicals. Yes, we wear all white. Yes, it's ugly and I look like a culinary student/marshmellow.

My other set of scrubs.

By the way, scrubs are so much more fun to wear than the former 'business appropriate' attire.

So, this is the reason the blog had taken the backseat the past few months.

What would YOU want to do if you could go back to school?

If you have a passion/dream for another career, I encourage you to pray about it because you never know what path He might lead you on.

Rollin, Rollin, Rollin on the River

One of the perks of living in Boerne is having the Guadalupe River near by, or in our case less than 1/4 of a mile a way running through our neighborhood! There also happens to be a tube/canoe/kayak rental business about a 1/2 mile away, too.

As you might know, we pretty much had zero rain last year and the river was pretty still. I mean, we could put a tube in and it wouldn't float anywhere. Well, so far 2012 has brought us enough rain to fill up the river for us enough to take a little canoe trip.

We put on our river gear and drove to the rental business down the road. They hooked us up with a pretty red canoe, put us in the water, and off we went on a little 4 mile adventure down the beautiful Guadalupe.

The river. Isn't God's beauty and design amazing?

And the journey begins
 Captain Riley
I look like I know what I'm doing, but I have no clue.
Thanks to YouTube I now know how to canoe/kayak correctly
I could look at this ALL day. I can't wait until it's warm enough to swim and tube.

About half way through our float we stopped to take pics. I told Travis our trip would be even more amazing if we saw deer swim across the river.

If you look closely, you'll see a small waterfall in the back. I was scared of it. First time canoer-what can I say?

Do you see what I see? Deer! 6 beautiful Axis deer.
Swimming across the river while we have the camera out.
 Coincidence? I don't think so...

What a beautiful day for a Sunday afternoon date.
Do you like canoeing/kayaking?  We would love to have YOU join us on our next river adventure...
